Targets for the end of my tenure. Progress will be published every month.

How these are counted. Views are the totals reported by each platform's own analytics. Engaged people are unique individuals, counted once however many activities they join. Followers are combined across all platforms.

How we get there. Reach comes from a fixed weekly content system and a six-person media team. Members come from faculty ambassadors and three induction cohorts. Engagement comes from quarterly SDG events, committees and the points system.

Why I'm running

JCIN Uniuyo has real potential and too few people who know it exists. These are the four problems I will fix first.

Campus awareness

150

combined followers on Facebook and Instagram is the chapter’s current digital footprint. Most Uniuyo students have never encountered JCIN Uniuyo online or on campus.

The fixAn awareness week, a faculty ambassador in every faculty, and a daily presence online.

Online consistency

With no established content system, steady posting was nearly impossible. In 2025, as Director of Media and Publicity, the chapter reached roughly 2,000 views and 75+ engagements across platforms. That is proof that a fixed system is required to grow beyond 150 followers.

The fixA fixed weekly content system run by a six-person media team.

Event frequency

Events are too rare for a chapter to be noticed. Visibility is built by showing up again and again.

The fixOne flagship event a quarter, each tied to a Sustainable Development Goal.

Member commitment

Active participation is thin, and most members have no clear role to grow into.

The fixSmall committees with defined roles, a transparent points system, certificates and mentorship.

The plan

Three promises and one way to hold me to them. Details may move as I learn what works. The quarterly rhythm will not.

Online

Visible

One consistent identity across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, run on a fixed content system.

  • Four content pillars, each with a signature format: Impact (a project outcome explained in 60 seconds), Opportunities (an upcoming training or leadership opening), Campus Pulse (short street interviews on a campus issue) and Member Spotlight (a member's growth story).
  • A signature series, 60 Seconds of Impact, showing every project in a minute.
  • A weekly rhythm with one batch-shoot day and a Sunday review of what worked.
  • A media team of 2 videographers, 2 designers, 1 writer and 1 community manager.
Offline

Active

Be present on campus all year, not only on event days.

  • Four flagship events through the year, set out in the timeline below.
  • One ambassador per faculty, each aiming for 25 sign-ups a semester, with a monthly leaderboard.
  • Induction in three cohorts, around months 3, 6 and 10.
  • Members stay through a points system, certificates, mentorship and an alumni network.
Recognition

Global

  • Document: a standard report for every project.
  • Share: stories pitched to student and youth media, plus the public monthly report.
  • Expand: entries into JCI Nigeria collegiate awards, then national and international JCI platforms. We commit to entering, not to winning.
  • Partners: Student Affairs, the Students' Union, faculty associations, a staff adviser, JCI Uyo City and sponsors, including a grand patron.
Proof

Accountable

  • A public report on the first Sunday of every month.
  • A published dashboard: views, follower growth, members, events, attendance, volunteer hours, SDG projects.
  • A mid-tenure town hall and an end-of-tenure report.
  • An open feedback form and a quarterly members' review.

First 90 days

What happens in the opening quarter

Built directly from the plan above. No new promises, just the sequence that starts the system.

Days 1–30

“What is JCI?” Awareness Week, faculty booths, freshers’ orientation, and the media team structure locked in with the weekly content calendar.

Days 31–60

Faculty ambassadors appointed and briefed. First induction applications open. First public monthly report released. Points system published and explained to members.

Days 61–90

First induction cohort held. Second monthly report released. Content system running for a full quarter. Planning locked for the Month-4 Health Week (SDG 3).

Member growth

Points system

Clear roles and visible progress. Points are earned through contribution, not just attendance. Any member can earn any activity below, and the tiers mark your level. Committee leads log points, and the leaderboard is published every month.

Contributor

0 – 49 points
  • Attend a general meeting or event (+10)
  • Complete an assigned committee task on time (+20)
  • Share official content (+5)

Active Member

50 – 119 points
  • Bring a new member who is inducted (+30)
  • Lead a small project task (+25)
  • Produce content or a report that gets posted (+15)
  • Meet your monthly ambassador target (+40)
  • Certificate of Active Service

Impact Leader

120+ points
  • Chair a committee or flagship role (+40 a month)
  • Drive a measurable project outcome (+50 per project)
  • Priority mentorship & alumni intro
  • End-of-year recognition

How points stay fair

  • Every point is tied to a verifiable activity, such as an attendance list or a posted piece of content.
  • Any member can challenge a score, and errors are corrected in the next monthly leaderboard.
  • Recognition weighs the quality of a contribution as well as the points it earns.
  • Recruitment points are awarded only after the new member is inducted.
  • The public leaderboard shows first names only.

Portrait of Edara Akpan

I'm Edara Akpan

I am a 400 Level student in the Faculty of Law at the University of Uyo. I joined JCI in 2025 and served as Director of Media and Publicity. I also represent my 2023 law class as Class Representative.

I am running to give JCIN Uniuyo what it has lacked: a system, a schedule, and a reason for every Uniuyo student to take part.

FAQ

Straight answers to the questions students and members ask most.

Who can pledge support?

Pledging is open to confirmed members of JCIN Uniuyo. The form asks you to confirm membership before the pledge is counted.

How will you recruit enough volunteers?

Through one ambassador in every faculty, each aiming for 25 sign-ups a semester, an awareness week in the first month, and a points system with certificates and mentorship that gives members a reason to stay.

How will I know the monthly reports are accurate?

Figures come from each platform's own analytics and from attendance and points records. The quarterly members' review and the mid-tenure town hall give members the chance to question them.

How will member feedback shape decisions?

Through an open feedback form, the quarterly members' review and the town hall. Each monthly report includes a Learning section stating what worked and what will change.

How will the points system actually work?

Points are earned for attendance, bringing new members, completing committee work, producing content, and leading project tasks. Three tiers (Contributor, Active Member, Impact Leader) unlock certificates and priority mentorship. Every activity has a published point value, and the values can be adjusted after the first quarterly review.

When does the first public report come out?

On the first Sunday of every month, starting after the first full month in office. The layout is already shown in the plan section so everyone knows what to expect.

What happens in the first 90 days?

Awareness Week and media system set-up (days 1–30), faculty ambassadors, induction applications and the first public report (days 31–60), then the first induction cohort, the second report and Health Week planning (days 61–90). Full detail is in the plan section.

Back the plan

Pledging is open to JCIN Uniuyo members.

Only a pledge count is stored. If you tick the box, your first name and department also appear on the wall. Email the campaign to have an entry removed.
